Bootcamp Reflective Journal

I made a map of sound. On the map, I labeled different sounds according to their volume and sources. These sounds came from people' talking, dog barking, birds' singing and music playing and etc. Also, the sounds have different volume. So, it causes some areas in union square quiet or noisy. Usually, noisy areas are crowded, active, close to the road, such as playground. People or animals often take activities here like street preference. However, quiet areas are peaceful. People often take rest here. Based on this map, people may able to fine appropriate place to take activities or get rest. This map could be improved by adding time (different time have different sound), people information(different age/gender/etc.), sound types (natural/artificial/musical) and etc. Therefore, it maybe more navigated.

My 10 close observations: The 2 mins pen drawing: My own phrasing: I think the artist is trying to convey that the poetic and romantic natural The core question maybe about peoples' own right, political debate, sociopolitical evaluation and creative spirit of re-invention etc. The artist used simple, decorous and thin font with light purple color neon to represent his core question. The light color and dark sliver background makes a strong contrast and impact. It is inspired. I don't understand the exactly meaning of the poem, but it gives people more imagination because the order of reading doesn't matter. People can read from anywhere they like. So different people will have different perspective and understanding about this artwork. Observations from different students:

I am Zhou Xia. I used my first designed Avatar as my self-portrait and I used a dialogue form to introduce myself to my classmates. I want to show a glance of my previous project and took this opportunity to present my background, experience and understanding of DT.
